About Holy Land Designs: Holy Land Designs is a fair trade business based in Maryland and Amman, Jordan. Their Fair Trade Community Workshop employs 20 people, most of whom have a physical disability. The Workshop’s mission is to train local men and women in skills such as woodworking, carving, painting and sewing with the goal of fostering economic stability and work opportunities. Starting salaries are living wage, providing housing, food and education for a family of four. The olive tree wood that is used is always from from trees that have been pruned back or cut down because of road construction or building. Trees are never harvested solely for the purpose of making their goods.
